With New South Wales in the midst of a highly contagious strain of COVID-19 and in light of the recently announced stay-at-home orders and extension to current restrictions, Rowing NSW has made the necessary yet unfortunate decision to cancel the NSW State Masters Championships, scheduled for 3-4 July 2021 at the Sydney International Regatta Centre.

Residents who live or work in the four LGAs of Woollahra, Waverley, Randwick and the City of Sydney have been issued a stay-at-home orders effective 11.59pm on Friday, 25 June until 11.59pm on Friday, July 2.

Restrictions currently in place for the seven LGA’s of Bayside, City of Sydney, Canada Bay, Inner West, Randwick, Waverly and Woollahra have also been extended until 11.59pm on Friday, July 2.

Based on the information at hand and the highly contagious nature of the Delta variant Dr Kerry Chant is also concerned about seeding possibilities throughout Greater Western Sydney. Based on this advice Rowing NSW does not feel comfortable in running the regatta and causing unnecessary risk to our community and the local Penrith area. We additionally anticipate a large number of withdrawals which would make the running of the regatta impracticable.

We know that this news is extremely disappointing for the Masters community given the delays this regatta has already gone through this season.

All entry fees already paid for the regatta will be refunded.

We thank you for your understanding.
