2021 NSW Masters Championships UPDATE!

NSW Masters Championships Regatta
As you may be aware the Sydney International Regatta Centre (SIRC) is continuing to experience a significant outbreak in toxic Blue Green Algae (cyanobacteria).

The water at SIRC continues to be tested and analysed twice a week with the results still indicating that the lakes at the venue are unsuitable for primary and secondary contact due to the presence of persistent and extensive cyanobacteria scums.

Venue Management have confirmed with Rowing NSW that the Regatta Centre will remain closed to all primary and secondary on water activities. Rowing NSW has not been given a timeframe as to when the venue will reopen and competition is allowed to commence.

CHANGE OF LOCATION

Rowing NSW has investigated suitable alternative venues to hold the regatta and are mindful to give the community as much time as possible to prepare. We can confirm the Nepean River at Weir Reserve as the location to host the NSW Masters Championship Regatta.

The team is currently working through additional logistics of this change to ensure the experience athletes receive is befitting of a state championship regatta. Once logistics are confirmed we will communicate to all clubs and athletes.

We will continue to monitor the situation at SIRC with Rowing Australia in relation to the upcoming Australian Masters Rowing Championships and will communicate with the community as soon as possible.

We thank you for your understanding.
