2024 NSW Community Sports Awards | Congratulations Greg Smith and Neil Holmes!
Published Thu 20 Jun 2024
Last night (19 June 2024), Sport NSW hosted the 2024 NSW Community Sports Awards.
These awards recognise outstanding achievements and contributions to community sport in NSW – largely carried out by a volunteer workforce.
Two members of the Rowing NSW community were honoured:
Greg Smith - Community Official of the Year
Greg is a trusted leader in the NSW rowing community who has officiated everything from Olympic Qualification regattas to NSW club-level events. He heads the RNSW officials program, serving as a reliable source of advice and counsel for officiating matters. His stewardship of the sport in NSW and utter dedication serves as an inspiration to the NSW rowing community.
Neil Holmes - Distinguished Long Service Award
A consistent presence at SIRC, Neil can often be seen on a BRO boat or handing out bow numbers. He has been the Finish Timer/Result Compiler for NSWIS/NSW HPP Time Trials for more than 25 years, and serves as Boatpark manager when SIRC hosts Nationals. He exemplifies leadership through service to the NSW rowing community in everything he does.
We are so proud that Greg and Neil have been recognised by the wider NSW sporting community. Without their efforts, and the efforts of volunteers like them, Rowing NSW's events could not run so smoothly.
Congratulations Greg and Neil!
