Coach Her Way | Mentoring Program Applications Open
Published Tue 28 Sep 2021
Rowing NSW is one of 17 NSW sporting organisations to receive a 'Her Sport Her Way' grant that will assist us in creating and supporting more opportunities for female coaches in our sport. Driven by the NSW Office of Sport, the 'Her Sport Her Way' program allows sports like ours to build a stronger community where women and girls are valued, recognised and have equal choices and opportunities to lead and participate.
Rowing NSW's Coach Her Way program highlights the increased need for investment in coaching development, particularly in the female ranks. Currently, females represent 52% of Level 1 coaches in NSW, but this percentage drops to almost a quarter in Level 2 coaches and stands at just 18% for Level 3 and none for Level 4. The aim with this program is to enhance the opportunity to learn and develop skills, breaking down roadblocks so that female coaches are confident and driven to continue coaching.
The program will target existing female coaches who are aspiring to coach at higher levels of the sport as well as school and club coaches that want to improve their coaching knowledge and ability.
Coach Her Way will allow Rowing NSW to deliver a multi-layered coach development program across three key streams:
As part of Rowing New South Wales commitment to increasing the number and quality of female coaches across the state, the Coach Her Way program will assist targeted coaches to improve their coaching knowledge and ability so they can play a bigger role in the coaching community.
Through a mentoring program, Rowing NSW aims to increase the number of Level2 and Level3 accredited coaches by pairing successful applicants with a mentor that will assist them through their growth as a coach.
This is open to any female coach at any level, who is looking to expand their knowledge and network.
If you would like to be part of this exciting initiative, please complete the Google Form linked below and tell us why you would be a suitable candidate to be part of this program.
Applicants will need to be a current Rowing NSW Member.
The maximum number of mentees for this initial intake, will be limited to 10, to ensure quality and delivery of the program.
It is the goal of Rowing NSW to run a number of these programs throughout the next 12 months pending the availability of securing a suitable number of mentors.
As part of this program, you will receive:
- one on one mentoring
- matched with an appropriate mentor to develop your skillset
