Published Fri 06 Dec 2024
As per the Interim Rowing NSW Heat Management Policy, Rowing NSW has implemented its Heat Management Plan for the Reindeer Regatta (7-8 December) and Sprint Championships (8 December) at the Sydney International Regatta Centre (SIRC). With high temperatures forecast, specific heat management measures may be enacted to ensure the safety of all participants.
Heat Management Plan Overview
Heat Alert Levels
Heat alerts are determined based on apparent temperature (AT), which considers air temperature, humidity, and wind speed:
-
Level 1: AT ≥ 32°C
-
Level 2: AT ≥ 35°C
-
Level 3: AT ≥ 38°C
-
Level 4: AT ≥ 43°C
Key Measures
-
Competitors must carry at least 500mL of water and consume it before racing.
-
Time on water should be minimised.
