NSW Interstate Schools Pathway Eight 2021

Published Wed 05 Aug 2020

The Interstate School Pathway Eight’s began in 2013 and has grown here in NSW and across the country with the 2019 competition being the biggest to date with thirteen JW8+ and ten JM8+.

The Pathways 8+ event is an Interstate schoolboy/schoolgirl 8+ regatta held annually as part of the Australian Underage Selection trials at the Sydney International Regatta Centre (SIRC).  The aim of the Pathway 8+ event is to expose school age rowers with potential, along with their coaches to the next level of rowing.  It is a chance for young rowers to experience state selection processes and to compete against their school age counterparts from around the country.  It is an opportunity to work with high level coaches and to encourage school rowers to make the next step in their rowing pathway.

Looking back on those athletes that have come through this Pathway, many have gone on to represent their State and Country which is a remarkable feat.

2021 Interstate Schools Pathway Eight Regatta

This regatta is conducted as part of the RA Underage Selection trials.  Heats will be conducted on Sunday 11th April with finals on Monday 12th April 2021.  School athletes must be available on these dates to be considered for selection.

Pending NSW Government mass gathering restrictions, Tuesday 13th April 2021 may also be used for competition.

Training Days

Rowing NSW will be conducting training days open to all athletes in the coming months.  These will be both regional and metro locations.  Stay tuned as training venues and date will be released shortly.  These training days provide an opportunity to meet and train with other school aged rowers whilst also experiencing the local clubs in the regional and metro areas.

Crews

Female and Male City and Country crews will again be selected to represent NSW in the Interstate Schools Pathway Eight Regatta.

Final Selection Trials

Final Selection Trials are by invitation only and will be based on results from racing during the season along with ergo scores and recommendations from your coach.

Details regarding final crew selection is currently under discussion due to reduced time post Nationals next year.
