NSW Wrap Up | Youth & Senior Eights | 2021 Australian Rowing Championships Interstate Regatta

Rowing NSW wishes to congratulate all New South Wales athletes and crews who competed during the week at the 2021 Australian Rowing Championships in Lake Barrington Tasmania.

Day 7 saw NSW athletes and crews competing in the Interstate Regatta, with 9 podium finishes in 10 events.

Interstate Men's Youth Eight - Noel F Wilkinson Cup 

The NSW boys had a tight race with Victoria taking the win. The silver medal winning crew was made up of Tom Anderson (Sydney University Boat Club), Henry Furrer (Sydney Rowing Club), Lexi McClean (Mosman Rowing Club), Nikolas Pender (Mosman Rowing Club), Elliot Simpson (Sydney Univeristy Boat Club), Torben Ungemach (Mosman Rowing Club), Max Von Appen (Mosman Rowing Club), Alexander Wood (UTS Haberfield Rowing Club) and Coxswain Hannah Scarborough (Sydney University Boat Club).

Interstate Women's Youth Eight - Bicentennial Cup

The NSW girls also experienced a tight race, securing a bronze medal just behind Western Australia and Victora.
The crew was made up of Lily Eales (Sydney Rowing Club), Lily Gavan (Sydney Rowing Club), Laura Gourley (UTS Haberfield Rowing Club), Niamh Graham (Sydney Rowing Club), Sophie Houston (Sydney University Boat Club), Caitlin McManus-Barrett (Sydney Rowing Club), Grace Sypher (Sydney Rowing Club), Evie Thomson (Sydney Rowing Club) and Coxswain Hannah Cowap (Sydney Rowing Club).

Interstate Men's Eight - Kings Cup

The NSW men had one of the closest finishes on record, narrowly missing out on the Kings Cup with 0.16 seconds seperating first and second place. The NSW men were able to secure a silver medal with a fast and close last 500m. The NSW King's Cup crew was made up of  Sam Hardy (Sydney Rowing Club),  Jack Hargreaves (Sydney University Boat Club), Jack O'Brien (Sydney University Boat Club), Will O'Shannessy (Sydney University Boat Club), Alex Purnell (Sydney Univeristy Boat Club), Nick Purnell (Sydney University Boat Club), Spencer Turrin (Sydney Rowing Club), Campbell Watts (Sydney University Rowing Club) and Coxswain Kendall Brodie (Sydney Rowing Club).

The NSW women in the Queen's Cup were also able to secure a silver medal behind a fast finishing Victoria.The Queen's Cup crew was made up of Emma Fessey (UTS Haberfield Rowing Club), Georgie Gotch (Sydney University Boat Club), Lauren Graham (Sydney Rowing Club), Genevieve Horton (Sydney University Boat Club), Harriet Hudson (Sydney Rowing Club), Rowena Meredith (Sydney University Boat Club), Georgie Rowe (UTS Haberfield Rowing Club), Leah Saunders (Sydney Rowing Club) and Coxswain Talia Barnet-Hepples (Sydney University Boat Club).
