School Rowing Update - NSW Schoolboy Head of the River Date; Schoolgirl Year 10 Event Distance; Seeding Review Committee

NSW Schoolboy Head of the River - Change of Date

Due to a booking error from Rowing Australia with their Senior Selection Trials, Sunday March 13th 2022 has become available at the Sydney International Regatta Centre.  We have now moved the NSW Schoolboy Head of the River to Sunday March 13th 2022 to follow the NSW Schoolgirl Head of the River which remains on Saturday March 12th 2022.  The change of date of the Senior Selection Trials also alleviates problems that were expected with a reduced number of toilets/showers available on the island of the regatta centre for the NSW Schoolgirl Head of the River.

Schoolgirl Year 10 Events - Change of Distance

Following the feedback at the school regatta forum, these events have now been moved to a 2000 metre distance, where the course allows.  Previously these events were raced over 1500 metres.  Given the cancellation of school regattas in Term 4 2021, we expect the first time for this to occur over the new distance will be at the PLC/King's/Rowing NSW Regatta on Saturday 26th February 2022.

School Seeding Request Committee

Nominations are sought from interested persons within the school rowing community to form part of the seeding request committee for Schoolgirl and Schoolboy (non-AAGPS events/regattas) events/regattas.  The role of the seeding request committee is to review requests from schools to enter lower performing crews in a regatta in a lower division than their internal school ranking.  The Committee will also review requests from schools to double up competitors at the NSW Schoolgirl Head of the River and NSW Schoolboy Head of the River.  Anyone wishing to nominate should email owen@rowingnsw.asn.au.  A Committee of at least 4 people will be appointed and from this group, 3 people will review each application to ensure that a person with a potential conflict of interest does not review an application that their school has submitted.
