The Sydney Rowing Club has a long history of competing at The Henley Royal Regatta.   Sydney Rowing Club first attended Henley in 1912 when the Australian Eight, on its way to the Stockholm Games, competed as Sydney Rowing Club and won the Grand Challenge Cup, witnessed by the King and Queen of England. At the time, the regatta was considered the most prestigious rowing event in the world, and it was extremely rare for Australian teams to be invited to compete, yet alone win. Since then, Sydney Rowing Club has continued to achieve great success at the Henley Royal Regatta, winning The Fawley Challenge Cup (2005 & 2011), The Britannia Challenge Cup (2015), The Wyfold Challenge Cup (2009 & 2019) and The Rayner Cup (2022, HWR).
