Training with Newcastle Rowing Club | NSW Indoor Rowing Series

Published Thu 02 Sep 2021

Newcastle Rowing Club were to host Round 2 of the Indoor Rowing Series but with lockdown preventing that, they are still aiming to compete in the Indoor Series 'virtually'. Members with ergos at home are encouraged to enter. They have been undertaking weekly live racing sessions to prepare! Several members have been lucky enough to receive use of club ergos (during the stay at home orders) and they are getting a good workout!

Our Boat Manager, Matt Croker has been coordinating the racing using the C2 App ErgRace and also connecting with members via Zoom to give a real racing experience.

President, John McLeod is both excited and proud that NRC members are continuing to fly the flag albeit 'virtually'.

"We have a great sense of camaraderie at our club, with many motivated members pushing each other. It is great to see!

"Many of our members are running, cycling, swimming, walking and of course giving the ergo a workout, whilst the club is temporarily closed. Good luck to all those racing in Round 2!" - John McLeod

NRC's engagement with ergos have grown extensively over the years with participation in Rowing NSW and Rowing Australia events, as well as their own unique events including ERGtober and the Christmas Challenge Fundraiser becoming more and more popular each year amongst members.

Below are some photos from the previous year's NSW Indoor Rowing Series with members of NRC.

Thank you to Newcastle Rowing Club for sharing this story with Rowing NSW. We're looking forward to Round on Sunday 5 September!
