Vale - Peter Boyce | Newcastle RC

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Peter Boyce.  Peter passed away on Friday, 3rd May 2024, aged 83 years.

Peter’s senior rowing was with the University of Queensland where he maintained a long association.  He was a member of Newcastle Rowing Club where he served as Treasurer for many years and was awarded Life Membership.  Peter was a long time boat driver at Rowing NSW regattas, part of a trio with Laurie Ormerod and Mike Angus, who became great friends.   Peter and Laurie were jointly awarded the Rowing NSW Volunteer of the Year Award for 2013-2014.

He was also a regatta commentator, a role he was particularly well suited for, where his great passion and knowledge of the sport met with his silky smooth voice.  

In recent years, Peter moved from Newcastle to Cooma where he continued to work as a boat driver at regattas.  He since moved back to Queensland where his funeral service will be held.  Details below:
